Introducing- Sandra K Marshall-author of The Catalyst

I'm author, Sandra K. Marshall, and I write romantic suspense, contemporary romance and short stories for Eirelander Publishing. Today, I'm here to tell you a bit about myself and what I think about our world.

My first career was in aviation. I worked for Trans World Airlines (TWA) in various positions for thirty-six years. During that time, I traveled extensively. Some of the parts of the world I went to are in horrible turmoil today, but that's another story.

While at TWA, I started writing stories, but it wasn't the first time I wrote something. In the third grade I wrote a skit and played the part. The skit started my story telling, but it was many years before I wrote anything else but letters. My friends and acquaintances loved to receive letters from me because I could embellish the most mundane things. Enough about me; I want to tell you what I think about life.

Life is complicated, and sometimes we have very little control over what happens to us. Crimes go unsolved, criminals go unpunished and the innocent may be punished for something they didn't do. All of this is the way life is, but we don't have to like it.

As an author, I have complete (once in a while they get away from me) control over my characters. I can make them do anything I want. My heroine and hero will find their HEA (happy ever after), but they suffer a lot before they reach that point. It's just like in real life; there are a lot of ups and downs. The villains will most definitely be caught and pay for their crimes, which is not always the way actual events happen.

My first book, The Catalyst is being re-released with a new cover.

Blurb for The Catalyst

Dark revelations and secret love lead to personal resurrection.

Carolyn Madison didn't kill her husband but didn't mourn him either. The rapist deserved to die, or at least she thought so. Beneath a myriad of family secrets, Carolyn drags the skeletons out of the closet and in the arms of her true love, learns to love again.

Walt Tollhouse has pined for Carolyn since she was a shy seventeen-year-old. Little did he know Robert Dubois would steal her away, and then destroy the beautiful spirit he still loved. Beneath the guise of clean-up man, the martial arts instructor never pushes his battered love but gives her silent support she deserves.

Constructing a Plot- or How I Wrote Constructing Marcus Without Driving Myself Insane

Constructing a Plot- or How I Wrote Constructing Marcus Without Driving Myself Insane By Danielle DeVor I am your all around, creepy places sort of girl. If you want someone to run to old cemeteries in New England for gravestone rubbings, I’m the girl for you. I am not your usual romanticy sort of woman who loves movies that make me cry and mushy love songs. Which is why writing a book that had romantic elements was a challenge for me. I do read some romance- usually paranormal romance with sexy vampires. *fans self* But, I mostly find myself drawn toward writing straight fantasy or horror-esque stories. My mother, who happens to be a huge romance reader, asked me one day why I hadn’t tried writing something kind of romantic. I didn’t really have an answer except my brain doesn’t usually drift in that direction. So, since the challenge was now presented, I wanted to try to write a romantic story- but on my terms. If you’ve read my other book with Eirelander Publishing, Tail of the Devil, you’ll know what I’m talking about. My stories have a lot of grit, violence, and the occasional gross-out. But, since this story was to have some romance, I knew that a lot of the usual things I interject weren’t going to work this time and had to happen off-screen. I had to scale myself back. No scenes of torture. No scenes of violent death. This story had to be lighter. It had to make the romance between Emma and Marcus a plot point. I did slip in a little grossness, I’ll admit. But, heck, a girl like me couldn’t resist. I suppose what I’m trying to say is that it is good to challenge yourself once in awhile. I stepped out of my comfort zone with this one and I think it worked. http://danielledevor.wordpress.com

Book Description
Publication Date:April 25, 2013
If Mathias thought being homeless sucked, being a vampire is worse. The vampires who transformed him believe he is the reincarnation of an ancient king. They expect him to quit swearing, use a napkin, and play by their weird, ancient rules. Screw that.

But after the reigning queen assaults Mathias, he has visions of a past life in which he was that king. Turns out the current queen killed him then, and wants to kill him again. He’d better grow up fast, because if he doesn’t his second life may be shorter than his first.
